Marketing Specialist

Responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering marketing and branding efforts on behalf of the East Aldine Management District, served by Hawes Hill & Associates LLP, in accordance with the district’s approved Service and Improvement Plan. The Marketing Specialist reports to and works under the general supervision of the district’s Executive Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Build awareness for and celebrate the community’s brand identity and uniquely marketable/positive traits – both internally to the community of East Aldine and to targeted guests and investors.
  • Build upon recommendations of recently completed studies for the district associated with branding, economic development, and community development, as well as direction by the Board of Directors and associated committees.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of district goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, most particularly as it relates to marketing and building brand awareness.
  • Develop, implement, and update a Marketing Plan to promote the community as well as the district’s services and projects through marketing initiatives, including marketing and branding related outreach to area businesses, community organizations, and schools, as well as drawing tourists, guests, and potential investors into the community.
  • Provide expert staff support to District committees as assigned, including and particularly the Business, Economic Development and Marketing Committee.
  • Lead the development of consistent and quality messaging for the district website, social media, newsletters and related written communications including providing direction to and coordinating with the Director of Communications, writers, social media specialists and the webmaster.
  • Produce concepts and materials for messaging, ad campaigns, social media efforts, and more and lead/utilize the district’s creative team, including the graphic designer, photographer/videographer, and others to produce artwork, flyers, photos, videos, billboards, ads, and other forms of marketing and promotion.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the area’s businesses, community organizations, local institutions, local government entities, and the general public for purposes of understanding the community and seeking ways to enhance marketing and otherwise build the community’s identity and image. Utilize the information acquired in building these relationships to ensure that marketing responds to community opportunities and needs.
  • Provide marketing and outreach support as needed to promote special events sponsored by the district to build public awareness, engage the community, celebrate the community’s brand, and attract visitors to the Town Center.
  • Assist with other district functions in coordination with the Economic Development Director, Public Safety Coordinator, and Operations Manager.
  • Assist in maintenance of contact information for area businesses, community leaders and partners for use in email distribution, mail-outs and other forms of mass communication.
  • Maintain and report analytics as a means of gauging success in marketing efforts and providing regular updates to the Board of Directors and appropriate committees.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; advanced knowledge of marketing and public relations techniques and strategies; experience in application and management of social media as a marketing and outreach tool including understanding of various social media platforms; organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse community; ability to work independently, manage deadlines, follow through, organize and prioritize tasks as necessary; willingness to work as a member of a team in moving community initiatives forward; proficiency in computer word processing analytical, graphic/media software programs/applications such Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite and others appropriate to the position and duties.  Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desired.

Training and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications/Public Relations, or related field from an accredited college or university required.  At least four years of applicable professional experience strongly preferred.

Must provide own transportation. Must be willing to work occasional irregular hours and weekends to support the districts’ programs and initiatives, attend evening meetings, meet deadlines, and achieve objectives. Salary Range

Community Engagement & Events Specialist

The Community Engagement & Events Specialist reports to and works under the general supervision of the district’s Executive Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Build awareness for and celebrate the community’s brand identity and create a cultural tourism program for East Aldine through an ongoing series of activities, events, festivals, and other programs.
  • Build upon recommendations of recently completed studies for the district associated with branding, economic development, and community development, as well as direction by the Board of Directors and associated committees.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of district goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, most particularly as it relates to maintaining existing events and programs as well as planning and implementing new concepts.
  • Develop and implement an Events and Activities Plan in collaboration with the Community Marketing Specialist to promote and celebrate the community’s unique brand identity and to build upon the community’s assets, including the Town Center amphitheater, open space, and amenities.
  • Establish a program for promoting and managing use of the Town Center amphitheater, open space, and amenities, including outreach efforts to public/private/nonprofit entities to also bring non-district activities to the community and the Town Center.
  • Develop, attend, and manage district-driven activities, events, festivals, and other programs.

District Services Assistant / Front Desk Attendant

This position serves as the first point of public contact for members of the public, guests, visitors, tenants, stakeholders, staffers, public officials, and all individuals who enter the East Aldine Management District’s Town Center office facility located at 2909 East Aldine Amphitheatre Drive. The East Aldine Management District is a municipal management district served by Hawes Hill & Associates, LLP. The Front Desk Attendant/District Service Assistant reports to and works under the general supervision of the District Operations Manager and works closely with other District staff members to carry out day-to-day operations.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Performs duties and responsibilities which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:

  • Staffs the East Aldine Management District’s first floor front desk reception/lobby area during hours of operation, providing professional customer service to all persons entering the building
  • Greets all visitors and provides helpful information about and assistance regarding meetings, services, programs, and events occurring in and around the District’s building, premises
  • Handles incoming and outgoing mail and packages/deliveries, ensuring that they are properly received.  Checks the District’s mailbox and distribute mail daily. 
  • Ensures that the EAMD office lobby is aesthetically pleasing by keeping displays, marketing materials and all furnishings in a clean, neat, and organized professional manner.
  • Answers the first-floor front desk telephone, directing callers to appropriate offices including those of tenants
  • Keeps accurate records (e.g., call logs and sign-in sheets) of all district visitors and phone calls
  • Assists in setting up and preparing for community meetings, District-sponsored activities and other events held on site
  • Assists the District Operations Manager in coordinating district services such as housekeeping, HVAC, and others; assists with scheduling district contractors and vendors, to ensure district operations are carried out effectively and timely
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of all materials and supplies needed for the effective operation of the district lobby; reports items that need reordering and restocking.
  • Assists in maintaining up-to-date contact lists of all board members, committee members, partners, vendors, and other important resources to ensure effective communication (e-mail / phone)
  • Posts EAMD committee, board, and any other public meeting agendas
  • Helps create and maintain calendar of scheduled events, meetings for the building and property use. 
  • May assist in coordinating notices, calendars, agendas, sign-in sheets, and any other material needed for district meetings and events
  • May assist with the preparation, dissemination, and translation of district marketing materials (flyers, posters, and other collateral)
  • May assist in monitoring the district’s website and social media to ensure that information is up to date and that required material is uploaded in a timely manner.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the district staff.

Qualifications

Fluency in Spanish required.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse community; professional demeanor and appearance; proficiency in computer word processing and database programs in Windows

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.  Prior experience preferred. 

Other Conditions

Valid Texas Driver’s License.  Must provide own transportation.  Must be willing to work occasional irregular hours and weekends to support the District’s programs and initiatives, attend evening meetings, meet deadlines, and achieve objectives

Salary Range
