Describe your shelter in 3 words

Caring Progressive Service-oriented

What is the most important message about animals you’d like to share with your community?

Our mission is to promote humane animal care and protect Public Health and Safety in the City of Houston, including shelter, pet placement, ownership, education and enforcement. Critical to our mission is excellence in everything we do.

How would you use $100,000?

We would use the funds to bolster our Adoption Program and invest in the development of a robust Lost Pet Program.

BARC is the City of Houston’s Animal Shelter and Adoption Facility. BARC is the only city shelter in Houston required by law to accept every animal that comes through our doors regardless of breed, temperament, health conditions, and circumstance (from owner surrender, stray pickup, rescued or confiscated animals).
