AUSTIN – (June 21, 2012) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a grant in the amount of $9,909,094 and a loan in the amount of $577,000 to the East Aldine Management District (Harris County) from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to finance water and wastewater services.
The District intends to use the funds for the construction phase of a project to provide first-time municipal water and wastewater services to the 1,585 residents of the Sherwood and Benton Place Communities.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the State Water Plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
