The Lone Star College System met with the East Aldine District board members, Representative Armando Walle, and members of the community to announce the construction of the East Aldine Center in partnership with East Aldine District. This 85 square-foot facility and “state-of-the-art” satellite center will be located in East Aldine near the Northeast Houston metropolitan area and will accommodate 4,000 students. The center will offer: credit, workforce certificates such as ABE, ESL, GED, and non-credit courses.
Approximately, one half of the facility will be designed to house training labs with cutting-edge equipment and have dedicated classrooms for workforce programs. The workforce programs under consideration include high demand and high paying fields in the oil and gas industry, Machining Technology, Welding Technology, Pipe-Fitting Technology, Petroleum Technology, Electrician and Heating and Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC). Additional programs that may be offered are Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Phlebotomist, and Medical Coding.
The remainder of the center will be designated for academic support functions including admission, advising, counseling, financial aid, testing, and administration. The instructional components of the facility will be designed for academic courses needed during the first two years of a bachelor’s degree and the completion of an associate’s degree.
Lone Star College is extremely thrilled to bring the East Aldine Community a center that will bring great opportunities closer to home!
The center is scheduled to open for classes Spring 2016.
