The Barbara Devetski Scholarship Essay Contest is now open and accepting applications.
This annual scholarship honors the legacy of Barbara Devetski by investing in young women who demonstrate determination, strength, and a commitment to their future.
The Barbara Devetski Scholarship Contest is open to all Houston area, college-bound, graduating high school senior girls, who plan to enroll in a minimum of 9 credit hours in the Fall Semester of 2026.
Applicants are invited to submit an original essay (maximum 1,000 words) responding to this year’s theme: Resiliency. We encourage students to reflect on personal experiences, challenges overcome, lessons learned, and how resiliency has shaped their goals and aspirations.
Application Deadline: March 22, 2026
