POLICIES & PROCEDURES
SMC Management, on behalf of The East Aldine Management District operates the Neighborhood Depository & Recycling Center to provide residents of East Aldine a convenient opportunity to dispose of junk, tree waste, and recyclable materials. Residents of East Aldine may use the Neighborhood Depository and Recycling Center up to two (2) times per month.
CONTRACTORS AND OTHER BUSINESSES ARE PROHIBITED FROM USING THE FACILITY.
Acceptable Items: YES!
- TREE WASTE (branches/limbs no longer than 6 feet and logs no wider than 12 inches in diameter).
- JUNK WASTE (furniture, mattresses, wooden fencing – must be broken down, loose drywall and shingles must be bagged).
- PASSENGER TIRES (no more than 4 passenger tires per month per household allowed)
- GLASS (mirrors and glass cookware is not recyclable but can be disposed of in heavy trash)
- RECYCLING (cardboard, paper and approved plastics)
Non-Acceptable Items: NO!
- NO household garbage
- NO dead animals
- NO bricks, rocks and/or dirt
- NO TVs or other electronics
- NO truck or industrial tires
- NO paint, chemicals, household hazardous waste (fertilizers, pesticides, flammable materials or liquids)
- NO motor oil
- NO toxic, infectious, hazardous waste (acid, explosives, ashes/charcoal, burned wood)
- NO appliances (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers, dryers, etc.
- NO animal waste, i.e horse manure, cow manure, etc.
Proof of Residency Requirements
Residents must prove residency in East Aldine District by showing:
- A photo ID (current Texas Driver License, Texas Department of Public Safety issued ID card, Texas License to Carry card or Harris County Public Library ID card), AND
- A utility bill (Light, Water, Gas / no more than three (3) months old) with matching address and name.
Vehicle Specifications
- No vehicles larger than one (1) ton are acceptable. ABSOLUTELY NO DIESELS!
- No trailers larger than sixteen (16) feet in length are permitted.
- No lifts or hydraulic equipment of any kind permitted to be used on site (junk/waste must be disposed of by hand).
Unloading Procedures
- Unloading of vehicles is the resident’s responsibility and should take no longer than 20 minutes.
- If dumping debris takes longer than 20 minutes, the attendant may ask the resident to stop dumping and make another appointment.
- Residents should be aware that ONLY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE LINE.
- Yard Staff will direct the resident to which container to unload junk/waste being discarded.
Site Rules
- Children under the age of 16 MUST remain inside the vehicle at all times.
- Residents should remain in their vehicle until directed by yard staff to approach the unloading area.
- NO LOITERING allowed anywhere in or around the facility by anyone at anytime.
- Alcoholic beverages or other intoxicating substances (illicit drugs) are strictly prohibited on site. Violators will be reported to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
- Inappropriate language/profanity is prohibited at the Recycling Center. SUCH LANGUAGE/PROFANITY WILL CONSTITUTE GROUNDS TO TERMINATE SERVING THAT RESIDENT WHO WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY.
- Salvaging or scavenging is strictly prohibited.
- Residents are allowed to use the facility 2 X per month.
- No pets of any kind permitted on site, even if they remain in the vehicle. PROOF OF SERVICE ANIMAL WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE PERMITTED ON PREMISES.
- Neighborhood Depository & Recycling Center employees should not solicit or accept tips of any kind.
