The Aldine Service & Action Plan sets forth a vision, goals, services to be rendered, and improvements to be made in support of the residents and business owners within the Aldine Improvement District. This plan was adopted unanimously by the board of directors on August 20, 2002 .
The goals and action items contained in this plan were derived from a comprehensive study conducted by the Harris County Community Development Department in 1998. Titled “Aldine Community Development Plan,” the study included input from hundreds of area residents and a 33-member Community Vision Team who met with county planners over a four month period. Residents and community leaders identified issues related to water, sewer, flood control, and mobility (roads, sidewalks, pedestrian and bike trails) as their top priorities.
The community also recognized the need for increased security and public safety, a cleaner and healthier community, and economic development.
The Aldine Service and Action Plan is therefore based directly on the desires of the community as expressed in the 1998 Harris County study. This Plan includes goals and action items to address the following:
