Tradewinds Cargo Handling welcomed the first flight carrying fresh air cargo to the new Houston Fresh Air Cargo center at George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Thursday.
The new 61,000-square-foot facility will process time- and temperature-sensitive products such as produce, flowers and fish.
The Houston Fresh Air Cargo IAH center is expected to pump an estimated $10 million per year into the regional economy and is the first of its kind in the region, according to the Houston Airport System.
In August, Tradewinds Cargo Handling of Newark, N.J., became the first company to lease space in the facility, which was developed by Trammell Crow Co.
