Livable Centers Study

About the Project
The East Aldine Management District and the Houston-Galveston Area Council completed a Livable Center Study in East Aldine. In partnership with community members, we created a plan that addresses pressing needs and builds on existing community strengths to envision a more connected, healthy, and thriving East Aldine.
Areas of focus include:
- Improving mobility options including transit, walking, and biking infrastructure
- Developing strong commercial corridors that serve community needs
- Supporting community health and culture
- Addressing environmental factors such as flooding, while creating harmony between industrial, commercial, and residential uses
- Ensuring affordable and fair housing so that existing residents enjoy and benefit from new growth and development
- Engaging the community and building capacity of community members and leaders to implement the plan
