District residents had voiced the need for greater access to services and amenities, including a grocery store and health clinic. At the time of the assessment, the plan was to build a Town Center that would provide these services and amenities to its community members. The Health Impact Assessment (HIA) Team determined through the HIA screening process that the town center proposal had the potential to impact the community’s overall health and wellbeing. The HIA’s main goal was to inform decision makers on the potential health impacts and associated health costs of the proposed town center. Now that the Town Center is a reality and BakerRipley is a primary partner, they are now providing the health services that the residents have requested.
