Our Town Center is a community-driven process to imagine what comes next for the East Aldine Town Center.

The East Aldine Town Center is currently a complex of community service centers anchored by the East Aldine Management District’s offices, Lone Star College’s East Aldine Center, BakerRipley’s East Aldine Campus, the HOPE Clinic, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center. It is also a community partnership, bringing together the efforts of public agencies, not-for-profit organizations, community groups, and private entities.

In addition to being a hub for services for the East Aldine community, the Town Center is a recreational and cultural destination, featuring its signature amphitheater, playground with splash pad, walking paths, and art installations across the complex.

The ambitious next phase of the Town Center, “Phase 3”, was originally intended to provide 100,000 – 300,000 square feet of space for retail and commercial development, such as a grocery store, restaurants, and coffee shops, as well as possible residential and community partner expansion spaces. In recent years, the East Aldine Management District entered into an agreement with H-E-B to develop a Joe V’s Smart Shop grocery store at the Town Center. However, H-E-B decided not to move forward with the grocery store, and the land was returned to the District in early 2024.

Developing the Town Center is a long-term commitment, and the East Aldine Management District wants to get it right. In early 2025, the East Aldine Management District selected a consultant team to provide an updated plan for Phase 3. Updating this plan will help the District check in on the community’s current priorities and needs, as well as the current retail and commercial market, to find the best way to develop the next area of the Town Center.

This is your Town Center – it was created by the community, for the community. We need your help to shape the Town Center’s next phase!

Throughout 2025, the District will host a series of meetings for community members to help us answer the key question: “what comes next for our Town Center?”

The first meeting, “Visioning Our Town Center”, will take place on Thursday, May 29 at the East Aldine District Offices. In addition to information sharing and visioning activities, it will also include a resource fair featuring the different services in the Town Center, youth activities, and free food. We invite you to spend an evening with us.

If you are unable to attend the first meeting, you can still share your ideas on the project website.
